More about Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 belongs to the fat-soluble vitamins, just like vitamins A, E and D. Fat-soluble means that it is important to take the vitamins in combination with a high-fat meal or another form of fat, otherwise the vitamin will leave the body unused. Fat-soluble vitamins remain in the body longer once they have been absorbed by the metabolism. They may even be stored in the tissues. Always keep this in mind with a view to overdosing.
Vitamin K exists in two forms. Vitamin K1 is abundant in our typical Dutch green vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli and endive. 90% of the Vitamin K we get through our diet is K1. Vitamin K2 is also present in our diet, but often in very small amounts. Vitamin K2 can be found in cheese, quark, yoghurt, meat and eggs. However, K1 is much less absorbable than the K2 form. So it is very important to make sure that you also get enough Vitamin K2.
MK7 is a form of Vitamin K2 with the highest bioavailability. This means that this form is very well absorbed by the body.
Vitamin K2 supports normal blood clotting*, contributes to the growth and development of your bones* and contributes to cardiovascular health*.
