CBD
Cannabidiol (CBD)
Most cannabinoids are colourless, but not all of them. One of the most brightly coloured cannabinoids is CBD, a very valuable cannabinoid with an intense yellow hue. CBD is believed to have special medicinal qualities. Especially in applications with the proper ratio between CBD and THC, many rapport great improvement for certain conditions. CBD functions as an antagonist in both CB1 and CB2 receptors, but has a low binding affinity for both. This suggests that the operating mechanism of CBD is mediated trough other receptors in the brain and body. In (too) high doses CBD can make you very sleepy.
For thousands of years the Cannabis plant was used for all kinds of medical purposes.
Today, Cannabidiol (CBD) is back in the health world and more and more research is being done into its potential power as a pain reliever, restorer and supporter of the body's natural balance.
CBD is like her psychoactive sister THC, a cannabinoid. The substance is obtained by extraction from the Hempplant. The entire production of CBD must be organic, with EU certified hemp plants.
The result is a very pure CBD product, with less than 0.2% THC. You will not get 'high' or 'stoned' from CBD products!
More and more people do not feel helpt by conventional medication, with so many undesired side effects and very far derived from nature... they do not feel helped. Rediscovering the medicinal effects of the plant world can be a relief and a reassurance. The best thing about CBD is that there are no adverse side effects. Many people who were long without hope, have discovered with CBD the strenght of their own body.
What does CBD do?
Not so long ago, science discovered that the body contains a system that produces its own cannabis-like substances. This so-called endocannabinoid system receives cannabinoids (substances naturally found in the cannabis plant) and it is becoming increasingly clear that they fulfil a very important function.
You can compare this system with the immune system. The endocannabinoid system is involved in pain, blood pressure, hunger and movement. There is also increasing evidence that it plays a role in all kinds of brain functions such as attention, memory and impulsivity.
Very important vital functions that must remain in balance, to let the body function optimally!
However, this is not always the case. The body can become unbalanced by all kinds of factors.
Cancer is a good example of a large off-balancing agent. Cells start to multiply uncontrollably and give a tumour an ever larger place in the body.
Although we still have to wait for long-term studies, it is already established that CBD can have a healing effect on patients undergoing chemotherapy, as it counteracts nausea and vomiting (a common symptom of chemotherapy).
Furthermore, as described above, a well-functioning endo-cannabinoid system provides a stronger basis. The term 'homeostasis' means that multi-cellular organisms in the body balance the internal environment, despite external factors.
This makes CBD also very suitable to take for preventing sickness. You do not have to be seriously ill to include CBD in your daily diet.
CBD oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 fatty acids and gamma-linolenic acid. These substances have a positive effect on blood pressure and skin health. It also contains large amounts of vitamin E, riboflavin and vitamins B1 and B2. There are also trace elements of, among others, potassium, calcium, copper, magnesium, sodium, zinc, manganese and phosphorus.
Dose
In our assortment you will find CBD oil with different percentages. They start at 2.50% CBD and go up to 25% CBD. You will find oil that besides CBD also contains other cannabinoids (for example Jacob Hooy 2.75%), or pure and simple CBD, supplemented with olive- or hempseed oil.
It is always recommended to start with a low dose (around 5 to 10 drops per day). This way you can slowly build up the dose until the effects become noticeable.
With CBD there is no possibility to overdose and gives room to experiment and to investigate which oil works best for you.
Each body reacts a little differently, has a different metabolism, changes due to certain medications, age etc... Always take this into account and give yourself time to let CBD work in. Sometimes this can be noticeable right after the first use. Relaxation occurs, muscles feel looser, you fall asleep well, pain is reduced. It can also take a little longer, a few days to a week, before a difference is noticeable.
