About Emilien
Emilien comes from the southwest of France and grew up in a countryside region where the Cognac vineyards occasionally meet poppy fields. Being surrounded by nature, he was always intrigued by the wide variety of trees, flowers, and mushrooms that thrive there, some with forgotten health benefits, others toxic, and a few with intriguing recreational effects. This curiosity led him to study, collect, and experiment with some of those indigenous plants on his own.
Emilien studied psychology in France, at a university with a strong emphasis on psychoanalytic approaches. However, he was particularly drawn to neuroanatomy and neuropsychopharmacology, where he discovered that drugs are not simply the "devilish" substances often portrayed in mainstream media. He realized that many illegal drugs actually hold tremendous therapeutic potential for people with unmet medical needs.
In parallel, he started watching a series of documentaries produced by Vice on the history, production, and consumption of recreational drugs. All of this strongly shaped his vision of drugs, and he realized that the common views on drugs and drug consumers are filled with harmful stereotypes and misconceptions.
Drugs as a career
Following his bachelor's degree, Emilien moved to Maastricht to pursue a Research Master’s in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience, with a specialization in Drug Development and Neurohealth. There, he gained extensive knowledge about the drug development pipeline, pharmacology, and the science behind mind-altering compounds. In Maastricht, he met Bent, who introduced him to the work of Sirius.
For the writing of his thesis, Emilien crossed over the pond to the USA to conduct research at Dr. Jason Wallach's lab in Philadelphia, an esteemed member of the drug research scientific community who synthesized and studied hundreds of novel psychoactive substances including hallucinogens, stimulants, and dissociatives. Being surrounded by experts in their field, Emilien was able to synthesize novel molecules that are analogues of well-known party drugs like 2C-B or MDMA, which could one day be developed into treatments for various psychological disorders.
Where is he now?
Today, Emilien works for Sirius as a content writer and editor, because he strongly believes in Sirius's mission to make drugs and drug consumption safer and more accessible. With his extensive knowledge of drug pharmacology and experience with psychedelics, he also assists other writers in their work to make sure the information that appears on the Sirius website is accurate and safe. It is an honor for him to be able to help and promote the business of the second oldest Smartshop in the world and is excited about the future of this field.
His favorite product sold by Sirius is the psilocybin-containing truffles available at Sirius' online MagicTruffleShop. He feels lucky to have access to such high-quality, fresh products. Having witnessed firsthand the numerous long-term benefits these truffles can offer, he strongly believes that people should have the right to access them safely and legally.
